AEW Dynamite Preview: Darby Allin Vs. Tommaso Ciampa, Will Ospreay Vs. Mark Davis

Darby Allin makes his first public appearance as AEW World Champion tonight when AEW Dynamite comes to Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon.

Allin won the title last week on AEW Dynamite Spring Break Thru in his home state of Washington, defeating MJF in under five minutes with multiple Coffin Drops and a Headlock Takeover. The locker room emptied to congratulate him, including his former tag team partner, Sting. Tonight, he addresses the AEW audience for the first time since winning the championship before immediately putting the title on the line against Tommaso Ciampa.

Ciampa enters the match on an impressive streak, having picked up singles victories over Dezmond Xavier, Juice Robinson, Mascara Dorada, and Lio Rush in recent weeks. Meanwhile, MJF will be watching closely following his title loss as he looks to plot his path back to the top of the AEW card.

Also on tonight’s card, Will Ospreay and Mark Davis meet in a singles match for the first time since the 2023 New Japan Cup. The two share a long history as former United Empire stablemates in NJPW and on the British independent scene, but Davis has since aligned with the Don Callis Family and brutally attacked Ospreay last week on Dynamite. Ospreay has been on a roll against Don Callis Family members, and tonight he faces someone who knows him better than most.

In the women’s division, Mina Shirakawa faces Hikaru Shida for the first time ever. Since the attack that put Toni Storm out of action, Shirakawa has grown increasingly suspicious of Shida’s involvement. Last week on AEW Collision Spring Break Thru, Shirakawa went as far as warning Kris Statlander against continuing her alliance with Shida.
