AJ Styles’ status is currently up in the air at this point. He was evaluated on Monday afternoon but WWE seems to be keeping the results to themselves.
It certainly makes plenty of people nervous about Styles’ status as he’s set to defend his WWE Championship in a WrestleMania dream match against Shinsuke Nakamura. Those two tore it up in the Tokyo Dome at Wrestle Kingdom 10 and fans want to see it happen again in the Super Dome.
But as it turns out, there are signs Styles’ injury might be more serious than we’d hope as Dave Meltzer discussed his current status on Wrestling Observer Radio.
“I can’t believe that it is that minor because if it was minor we would be told it’s minor, it’s nothing to worry about. We have certainly not been told that. Is it Mania threatening? Look, we’re only 3 weeks away from Mania so obviously if there’s any chance he may go — it could be a lot of different things. I think if there’s any chance he can do Mania and postpone if he’s gonna need something done I think that he will do that. I think he wants that match. But that may not be a possibility.”
The idea WWE would probably let us know if AJ Styles is okay might be true. After all, his inv0lment with WrestleMania might affect some fans’ perception of the show.
WWE did run an angle at the Madison Square Garden house show for this injury, so it’s possible that this might be all part of the story. Let’s hope AJ Styles is okay at least because it would be a shame to lose AJ’s match against Nakamura when we’re so close to the Grandest Stage Of Them All.
