Aleister Black’s injury is more serious than what was originally reported

Last week, Dave Meltzer reported that Aleister Black would need to get surgery after he was crotched by Tommaso Ciampa at a live event in Las Vegas. The news raised doubts about his status for Takeover: Brooklyn 4 where he is scheduled to wrestle in a Triple Threat Match against Ciampa and Johnny Gargano for the NXT Championship.

Ryan Satin reported that Black underwent groin surgery but it turns out that his injury is much more serious than what was reported. In a recent post on the Wrestling Observer Forum, Dave Meltzer said, “Satin is inaccurate, it’s more serious than that.”

There are no more details available at this time but it sounds like WWE is going to have to pull Black from the Takeover show. WWE has not announced anything because they need to wait until storylines play out on NXT TV. In all likelihood, they will announce something by next week.
