Alexa Bliss says the reason she keeps wearing the same ring gear is that it costs a lot of money.
Bliss teamed with Charlotte Flair and Tatum Paxley against Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab in a six-woman tag match at Sunday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta. Afterwards, a fan posted that her gear was old, that there was less pink in her hair than there used to be and that her in-ring work had dropped off, and read the combination as a sign she is close to retiring.
Bliss replied to the post herself.
“Or… my gear is extremely Expensive & I wanna get as many uses of it as I can 🤣,” she wrote.

The joke has a real answer behind it. Wrestlers buy their own ring gear. It is custom-made to order rather than bought off a shelf, a single set runs into four figures, and a wrestler on a full schedule needs several. Nobody in WWE is issued a costume. Repeat outfits are the norm across the roster for exactly the reason Bliss gave, and a wrestler wearing the same set for months is a wrestler getting value out of it rather than one who has stopped caring.
The match itself gave her plenty to do. Paxley started with B-Fab and had the better of it before Cargill attacked her at ringside and the Baddies isolated her. Paxley tagged Bliss in to take over, and Bliss went for Sister Abigail before Michin broke it up. Bliss was later tripped from ringside by B-Fab and sent shoulder-first into the steel steps.
The finish came down to Flair and Cargill. Flair and Paxley went for stereo Figure Eight leglocks on Michin and Cargill, B-Fab kicked Paxley off and sent her headfirst into Flair, and Cargill hit Jaded on Flair for the win in front of her hometown crowd.
She has not said anything about retiring, and nothing about her booking points that way either. Bliss has been with WWE since 2013 and on the main roster since 2016, where she became the first woman to hold both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships in her rookie year on the brand. She is a five-time women’s champion, a multiple-time Women’s Tag Team Champion, the second woman to complete WWE’s Women’s Triple Crown, and won the women’s Money in the Bank contract in 2018.
She has done the actual version of stepping back before. Bliss was away from television for close to two years and returned at the 2025 Royal Rumble, which is a longer absence than anything the post was reading into. She has also retired one thing since coming back, telling a fan on Cameo in April that she had put the Dark Alexa character away for good out of respect for Bray Wyatt.
The Flair pairing is the run she is in now, and by both their accounts it was her idea. Bliss told Busted Open recently that she pitched it to WWE herself, arguing the two had only ever been booked against each other and that the response was that Flair had too much heat to team with anybody. Flair said on Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story that she told Bliss it would not work and that creative was hesitant too, and has since called the year that followed the best of her career.
The two won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam last year, held it for 100 days across five successful defences, lost it to the Kabuki Warriors, and challenged again in a fatal four-way at WrestleMania 42 without winning. Sunday was another loss, and Bliss answered the retirement question the same day.
