An undercard WWE star is getting a bigger push because of Paul Heyman

Robert Roode was treated like a top tier star in NXT and it was only months into his run when he won the NXT Championship.

However, things have not worked out so well on the main roster and, for the most part, he’s been relegated to live events and losing most of his matches whenever he appears on Monday Night Raw.

That began to change in the last couple of weeks. Roode was given a singles win two weeks ago and last week he and Dolph Ziggler won a Tag Team Turmoil match to become the number 1 contenders for the Raw Tag Team Championship.

The reason for the turnaround for Roode is because Paul Heyman is a big proponent of him so there will be more focus put on him.

Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his win with Ziggler as his partner was meant to be a showcase for him after being slotted as a nobody for so long.

Hopefully, this sticks because his push can always be derailed if Vince McMahon decides that he doesn’t want Roode to get a push.

Roode and Ziggler will challenge for the Raw Tag Team Championships at Clash Of Champions on September 15th.
