Recent NXT Championship changes for Stephanie Vaquer and Ricky Starks on the May 27, 2025, episode were reportedly strategic moves ahead of their expected call-ups to WWE’s main roster, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Vaquer lost the NXT Women’s Title to Jacy Jayne, while Starks dropped the North American Title to Ethan Page. Meltzer reports that these title changes are because Vaquer and Starks, along with Jordynne Grace, are “all expected on the main roster imminently.”
PWInsider.com previously reported that Vaquer would go to Raw and Grace to SmackDown. When Meltzer asked about these placements, he was told “it appeared that way right now,” though a specific main roster brand for Starks was not yet indicated.
These talents, including recent call-ups Roxanne Perez and Giulia, “were not expected in NXT for a long period of time.” This is often the case for certain high-profile signings as they’re paid more than those first starting out in their wrestling careers.
