Last month, it was reported by Bryan Alvarez that Naomi is expected to return to WWE. There was speculation at the time that she would show up as a surprise entrant in the Women’s Royal Rumble match.
Alvarez said on WOL, “Of course, there is no official information on Naomi, but my impression is she will be returning to WWE. Actually, you can report that my belief is that she will be returning to WWE because she will certainly be returning to WWE. I will just say that. Other than that, I don’t know what is going on.”
Dave Meltzer reported that same week in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that talks between WWE and Naomi were ongoing but nothing had been signed.
Fightful Select reported on 1/18 that one higher-up in WWE was confident that she would be back.
Apparently, the reason why she’s not back in the ring at the moment is that she underwent shoulder surgery. This was said by Naomi’s former Funkadactyl tag team partner Ariane Andrew (Cameron).
Andrew said the following during an autograph signing: “She is recovering from shoulder surgery. I want her to answer the question for herself. I know she’s recovering from shoulder surgery.”
Andrew also claimed that she got a call to return to WWE last year and the plans were that she and Naomi would win the Tag Team Titles. Naomi has not commented on what Andrew said in the video below.
