Asked who he would recruit if he were putting the Four Horsemen back together with today’s talent, Arn Anderson did not need much time to think about it.
Taking a fan question on his ARN podcast, the Hall of Famer and founding Horseman named his four, starting with the son of a former WWE Champion.
“Brock. How about Bron Breakker,” Anderson said, beginning with his own son, Brock Anderson, before adding, “How about Randy Orton. Cody Rhodes.”
He then asked to squeeze in a fifth.
“Powerhouse Hobbs,” Anderson said.
Hobbs, now known as Royce Keys, signed with WWE in January and debuted in the Royal Rumble, so all of Anderson’s picks currently work for the same company.
From there, Anderson expanded the idea, saying he would also want a women’s pairing attached to the group, and the two he chose come with heavy bloodlines of their own.
“If they were going to give me, we’re going to widen Mount Rushmore. How about I’d love to see Charlotte Flair,” Anderson said, “and Tully Blanchard’s daughter Tessa. What a team they would make.”
For Anderson, the appeal is obvious.
“The lineage they have is unparalleled,” he said.
The picks make sense on paper. Charlotte Flair is the daughter of Anderson’s longtime Horsemen leader Ric Flair, while Tessa Blanchard is the daughter of Tully Blanchard, Anderson’s own tag team partner and the man he still describes as the defining partnership of his career. Blanchard left TNA earlier this year and has been working for CMLL in Mexico.
Anderson formed the original Four Horsemen in 1985 alongside Flair, Tully Blanchard and Ole Anderson, with J.J. Dillon as their manager, and the faction is widely regarded as the template every wrestling stable since has been measured against.
