NXT Women’s Champion Asuka has achieved another major milestone and this is a real big one. This time she has surpassed Rockin Robin’s record as WWF Women’s Champion. Furthermore, she now the longest-reigning Champion in modern history. Yes, that includes every single title (Tag Team, Intercontinental, World, etc).
When I mention modern history, I am not including Hulk Hogan, Bruno Sammartino, or Bob Backlund. Hogan and Sammartino, for example, held the title WWWF/WWF World Championship for several years and it’s doubtful that Asuka will hold her title for that long.
Given the fact that there are more TV shows and major shows than ever before, it’s amazing that she’s had the title this long because nowadays a 6-month reign is impressive.
Asuka will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Ember Moon at Saturday night’s NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III.
Bill Goldberg congratulated her on Twitter.
Congratulations and good luck to @WWEAsuka on her incredible streak as @WWENXT Women's Champion. We'll be … https://t.co/q3t9PX0jGD
