Asuka says she has not left WWE.
Replying to a fan on X who asked whether posts claiming she had left WWE were false and whether she was only taking a break, Asuka wrote in Japanese, “退団してまへん 辞めてまへん,” which translates to “I haven’t left the company. I haven’t quit.”

アスカさんがWWEを退団したようなことをポストしてる人がいるのですが、嘘ですよね?
今は休憩してるだけですよね? https://t.co/0purn26RIF
Asuka has not wrestled for WWE since Backlash on May 9 in Tampa, Florida, where IYO SKY defeated her. The two embraced after the match. On the May 11 edition of Raw, Asuka told SKY she was proud of her for taking her position, then left the arena with her suitcase in a segment presented as a farewell.
PWInsider reported on May 12 that Asuka was returning to Japan for an extended period to deal with a family matter while remaining under contract. Dave Meltzer later reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE described the situation as a semi-retirement tied to family business in Japan.
In a video posted to her YouTube channel in May, Asuka said she had stepped away because of a personal matter, that she had returned to Japan to handle it and that she had spoken with WWE about it. She confirmed then that she would return to WWE in the future.
No return date has been announced.
