Backstage News on Brock Lesnar’s WWE Status Following SummerSlam

Brock Lesnar lost to Cody Rhodes in a singles match at the WWE SummerSlam premium live event on Saturday night from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

The bout ended when Rhodes reversed the F5 and hit multiple Cross Rhodes for the win. Post-match, Lesnar shook hands, hugged, and raised Rhodes’ arm. As previously noted, this particular moment was not planned to happen.

This was the blowoff match to their feud after the two had exchanged wins ahead of the trilogy.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez mentioned that Lesnar is not taking a long hiatus from WWE despite removing his gloves. Dave Meltzer noted that Lesnar is booked for WWE Fastlane on October 7th.

Bryan Alvarez: “Apparently, Brock’s not done. For those of you that thought that perhaps taking off his gloves was the sign of something.”

Dave Meltzer: “Oh No. He’s advertised for Fastlane. So I don’t know if that’s when he returns. He’s not gonna be gone for a little while, is what I was told, but not a long while. Whatever that means.”
