Backstage news on plans for second Elimination Chamber match

WWE has already confirmed one Elimination Chamber match for the upcoming pay-per-view event. The second chamber match will not feature women, but rather, it will see Roman Reigns defend his WWE Universal Title.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the plan as of this week was to have Reigns defend his title inside the Chamber structure.

However, there’s no word yet on the exact participants in the contest. Kevin Owens is likely to compete and Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, and Shinsuke Nakamura are also possible. WWE will likely announce the competitors for the match on tonight’s SmackDown episode.

It was reported by Ringside News on Thursday that WWE didn’t have plans for a women’s Elimination Chamber match this year. It’s possible that WWE could book the match, but it seems unlikely as, since the creation of this themed PPV event, there have only been one or two chamber matches per show.

WWE holds the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
