Backstage News On The Status Of WWE NXT Europe

A new report from Fightful Select has provided an update on the status of the long-awaited NXT Europe brand, with perspectives from talent and promoters across the European scene. This follows a PWInsider report from May that suggested WWE was looking at possibly launching the brand by the end of 2025.

According to Fightful, talent who recently participated in a WWE UK tryout were told that the brand was “still coming,” but no further details were provided. This has reportedly been the company line since the closure of NXT UK. One former NXT UK talent expressed skepticism, stating they will “believe it when they see it.”

Some European promoters believe the renewed movement on the NXT Europe project could be related to AEW establishing a strong presence in the UK with their annual All In event at Wembley Stadium and other upcoming shows. While some promoters expressed hesitation, others were firm that losing top stars to NXT Europe would not be “the end of the world,” believing the scene would rebuild as it did after the launch of NXT UK and the COVID-19 pandemic.

From the perspective of active talent in Europe, the potential launch of the new brand was met with positivity. Several wrestlers pointed to the platform it would provide and the financial benefit of a WWE contract. However, a key point raised was the need for an increase in pay compared to the previous NXT UK deals, where talent were often encouraged to have second jobs. Talent in the French scene, which is currently experiencing a hot period, expressed particular concern about the scene losing its top stars.

Despite the positive aspects, a general sense of skepticism remains among some talent based in the UK and France, who do not believe the launch is coming in the near future.
