Backstage Reaction To Baron Corbin-WWE Return Reports

Baron Corbin’s WWE return is now in its final stages, with WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reporting that locker room sources have called him a clear favorite to come back and that sources inside WWE now believe he will be returning. Fightful Select has also confirmed that Corbin has now finished up his MLW commitments.

The original report on Tuesday by Sean Ross Sapp indicated that sources believed Corbin was either signed or about to be signed. The follow-up framing on Wednesday clarified that Corbin was finishing up other commitments.

Per WrestleVotes, the WWE locker room contains real backing for Corbin’s return. The sources Wrestlevotes spoke to specifically called Corbin a locker room favorite during his original 12-year WWE run and said they would like to see him return.

Tom Pestock, Corbin’s real name, has been working under the Bishop Dyer name since his 2024 WWE release and worked for MLW, NWA, GCW, Maple Leaf Pro, and World Series Wrestling, with the recent WSW Rise Against Australian tour wrapping over the past weekend. Pestock himself addressed the WWE return reports earlier this week on X with a sarcastic framing.

“I accepted 8 shows in Europe. My eye is still swollen from Australia. I also didn’t know i was done with some of these companies. Who ever is making my schedule needs to let me know this sh*t. I thought it was me but apparently it’s not.”

WWE has historically allowed incoming wrestlers to fulfill existing indie bookings for at least the immediate post-signing window. Corbin’s WWE career from 2012 to 2024 included a United States Championship reign, an NXT Tag Team Championship reign with Bron Breakker, the 2019 King of the Ring, and the 2017 Money in the Bank briefcase.
