One of the upcoming 205 Live shows has been canceled, according to what was posted by the official website for the Ryan Center in Rhode Island.
The official statement reads as follows:
“WWE 205 Live Tour scheduled for Friday, January 19th at 7:30 PM at the Ryan Center on the campus of the University of Rhode Island has been canceled.
All tickets for the Friday, January 19th show at the Ryan Center show will be fully refunded.”
The official reason being given is that the show was cancelled due to “routing and scheduling issues.” The only thing I know is that ticket sales were not doing too good. In fact, WWE added Matt Hardy vs. Bray Wyatt to the tour and Nia Jax as a special referee for Enzo Amore’s matches in an effort to boost ticket sales. It looks like they didn’t sell enough tickets to justify running the show.
As of this writing, tickets are still on sale for the shows taking place in Lowell, MA (1/20) and Poughkeepsie, NY (1/21). The idea has always been to turn 205 Live into a full-time touring brand. There were plans to run shows in February but WWE has to be reconsidering those plans.
