Dave Bautista says 2014 WWE run was a nightmare, explains why he didn’t want to work with Daniel Bryan post-Mania 30

Daily Dead has posted part 2 of their interview with former WWE Champion Batista. When asked about his WWE run in 2014, he said that it really sucked and that it didn’t have anything to do with him because there was just a lot going on behind the scenes. He noted that it was WWE and that they really screwed him over. He said that he was banging his head against the wall every day and wishes that people knew how hard he fought to be there and how hard he fought to give people the best matches that he could. He said that it was an everyday struggle dealing with the company. “It was such a f—ing nightmare.”

When asked about staying an extra month during that run, he said that most fans don’t know that and that the reason he had to go was do to press for Marvel for Guardians of the Galaxy. He said that they were nice enough to let him stay an extra month and they wanted to give him that month to work with Daniel Bryan at another PPV event. However, he didn’t like that idea as it made no sense at the time because they were just starting the Evolution storyline. “So why couldn’t we run with that instead of me putting Daniel over again, which I just did at WrestleMania? We’re not going to have a better match there than we did at Mania. Let’s just work more with Evolution and build these guys up. So we did. Then right after we built the hell out of them and they were so strong as a unit, they broke them all up.” He said that a lot of people think that he quit and walked out on the company but in reality, he stayed that extra month because he was obligated to do so because he wanted to be there. He said that he felt like he hit his stride and was happy to be there again at the end of his run.
