Bianca Belair has revealed the deeply personal journey that led her and Montez Ford to decide to start a family, tracing the decision directly to the finger injury she suffered at WrestleMania 41 and the prolonged recovery that followed.
In a vlog shared on her YouTube channel, Belair opened up about a finger injury that proved far more serious than initially anticipated and the emotional reckoning that came with an extended absence from the ring.
“So as everybody knows, at WrestleMania, I broke my finger. I broke my knuckle, and I have joint damage, and I lost a portion of my joint, which can’t be fixed. I originally thought it was going to be a pretty straightforward recovery. They said 8 to 12 weeks, but it just started not really healing correctly. It still won’t bend to this day, and I can’t get in the ring,” Belair said.
The extended recovery timeline prompted a broader reflection on what she wanted from her life outside of wrestling.
“It kind of just got to the point where I hit four months, and I have always wanted to have a baby. I’m not getting any younger, and honestly, this is what I want to do, and I feel like for so long I was kind of putting what I wanted to do and myself on the back burner. Me and my husband, we had a talk, and I kind of just told him, ‘I’m ready just to do something for me, and I’ve sacrificed enough, and I’m ready to have a baby,'” Belair said.
Belair surprised the WrestleMania 42 crowd during night one by walking out to announce her pregnancy after John Cena revealed the attendance figure, telling the audience that the EST is having a baby. Ford confirmed on social media that he had kept the pregnancy secret for six months while completing personal and professional commitments, including finishing an album and maintaining his wrestling schedule.
Belair is a former multi-time women’s champion, a 2021 Royal Rumble winner, and a former track athlete and CrossFit competitor who has been with WWE since 2016.
