A fan has come forward alleging CM Punk physically assaulted him at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas during WrestleMania 42 weekend, with 911 audio from the April 20 incident now obtained by TMZ.
The audio is from a separate person from the fan seen in the footage of Punk knocking a phone out of a man’s hand after the fan followed Bayley and AJ Lee into an elevator bank. In this new recording, a Spanish-speaking caller, assisted by a female interpreter, identifies CM Punk as the aggressor and claims the wrestler shoved him in the chest when he got close while hoping for an autograph.
The caller described the incident as a violent assault in Spanish, though the interpreter’s translation did not include the words violently or assault. The caller provided a physical description of Punk, noting that his face was red and full of anger during the encounter.
Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a disturbance at the hotel and spoke with all three parties involved. No report was filed, and Punk was free to leave.
Multiple WWE talent described the hotel security as inadequate, with fans having unrestricted access to common areas, including the lobby and elevator banks, throughout the weekend. Booker T said a fan filmed him in the bathroom. Sean Waltman revealed he was physically assaulted and had a camera shoved in his face. Damian Priest stepped in to help a female WWE talent get away from fans. Fightful reported that the situation was compared to WCW backstage and that talent across multiple locker rooms were unanimous that TKO and WWE need to invest in proper hotel security at major events going forward.
