Big E has revealed that his career-altering neck injury came with years still left on his WWE contract.
It has been roughly four years since Big E suffered a broken neck, an injury that ultimately ended his in-ring career. Appearing as a guest on The A2theK Wrestling Show, the former WWE Champion shared just how much time remained on his deal when the injury occurred.
“I think when I broke my neck, I was only about halfway through my five-year deal, so I still had about another two and a half years on my wrestling contract,” Big E said.
Big E suffered the injury in March 2022 after landing on his head during a match on SmackDown. Though he avoided the worst-case scenario, he was never medically cleared to return to the ring and has not wrestled since.
These days, Big E remains a visible presence in WWE, serving as an ambassador for the company and co-hosting the kickoff and post-shows for its premium live events. In the same interview, he also opened up about the recent WWE departures of his New Day partners Kofi Kingston and Austin Creed, also known as Xavier Woods, confirming the duo are in a 90-day non-compete window.
