You can argue that he is the biggest star in the history of professional wrestling. However, he has been looking in from the outside since he was let to in 2015 after word leaked that he used a racial slur on his infamous sex tape from 12 years ago. Hogan has made it clear that the would like to return to WWE but it’s always been a matter of timing. The timing has more to do with their sponsors and how they would react.
Now it looks like they are ready to bring him back. PWInsider is reporting that discussions to bring Hogan back to WWE begun several weeks ago. There’s no word what role he would play but I would assume that he would go back to doing ambassador work with occasional appearances on WWE television.
Hogan has said that he would like one final WrestleMania match. One idea could be to have him team with Braun Strowman with Strowman doing most of the work and Hogan just throwing punches. WWE is also doing everything possible to load up next month’s Greatest Royal Rumble show so, perhaps, Hogan could be added to that match as well.
There are people in WWE that think enough time has passed that he deserves another chance. A few weeks ago, Mark Henry was asked about a potential Hogan return and said that he would welcome him back under one condition. Henry feels that Hogan would need to apologize to the current locker room before he would be welcomed back.
In response to the story, WWE issued the following statement: “We have had discussions with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan) about how he can help others learn from his mistakes, however, he is not under any contract with WWE.”
