Goldberg made his big return on Monday’s episode of WWE Raw after WWE Champion Bobby Lashley had defeated Keith Lee.
Goldberg went straight to the ring to tell Lashley that he was next. While Lashley was ready to go right then and there, he was held back by his manager MVP. Later in the show, MVP stated that he and Lashley would not dignify Goldberg’s disrespect with an answer.
This came less than 24 hours after Lashley had beaten Kofi Kingston in a one-sided match to retain the title at Sunday’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view event.
Lashley took to Twitter to issue a statement in response to Goldberg’s challenge. He wrote the following:
“You don’t belong in the same world as me, let alone the same ring. Get that close again, @The305MVP won’t be able to hold me back. No thanks, old man. #WWERaw @WWE.”
While Lashley and MVP are downplaying the challenge, it’s all part of the storyline as this match is still expected to take place at SummerSlam on August 21 in Las Vegas.
