Booker T Reveals He Almost Teamed With Bad Bunny At WrestleMania

Booker T says he was supposed to team with Bad Bunny at WrestleMania 37. In the match, Damian Priest ended up working alongside the music star against The Miz and John Morrison.

Booker told the story on the latest episode of his Hall of Fame podcast with co-host Brad Gilmore, answering a listener who asked why he and Bad Bunny never wrestled each other.

“I had no desire to wrestle against Bad Bunny,” Booker said. “I almost did a tag match with Bad Bunny. It was actually supposed to be me and Bad Bunny, as opposed to Damian Priest and Bad Bunny.”

Asked why it did not happen, he said, “Certain reasons why. I’m not gonna disclose.” Gilmore asked whether he had considered it strongly. “Not strongly enough,” Booker said.

Booker said Bad Bunny grew up watching him. “That was a kid who watched me when he was growing up, and I made him feel a certain way, to the point where he wrote a song about me and won a Grammy with that song, and I appreciate that,” he said.

What Happened In 2021

Bad Bunny performed his song “Booker T” at the 2021 Royal Rumble, with Booker appearing during the performance, and got physical with Miz and Morrison on the show. The song won Best Rap/Hip Hop Song at the Latin Grammy Awards later that year.

When his name came up for the match in February 2021, Booker called it “100% a rumor” on his podcast. “No one has talked to me about it as far as having a match at WrestleMania,” he said, adding that he would rather see Priest get the spot. “I’d rather see Damian Priest get that rub. He’s the guy that’s on television right now.”

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that same month that the plan was for Bad Bunny to team with Priest. Bad Bunny and Priest beat Miz and Morrison on Night 1 of WrestleMania 37 on April 10, 2021, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
