Brie Bella says Chelsea Green’s SummerSlam win reminded her of the nights her husband had, when a crowd celebrates a moment it feels it owns a share of.
Green won the Interim WWE Women’s Championship in a five-way ladder match on night two in Minneapolis, beating Tiffany Stratton, Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill and Lash Legend, with her family at ringside.
Speaking on the Nikki and Brie Show, Bella drew the comparison to Bryan Danielson’s run.
“It was incredible. It was incredible. You know, her moment reminds me a lot of the moments Brian had, where the fans are just, it’s also a moment for the fans. Right? So everyone celebrates, and it just feels really good. And all of us were celebrating. Like we were so happy for her.”
Nikki Bella had been working media appearances alongside Green in Phoenix shortly beforehand, and said the ringside picture was part of what made it.
“And her whole family was like ringside. They all were sitting right there together, and it was such an epic moment.”
Both said they expect Green to make the reign work.
“It’s gonna be, and she’s gonna make it so entertaining. She’s just so entertaining.”
Green was released by WWE in 2021 and returned in the 2023 Royal Rumble. She has spoken since her win about it being almost exactly four years since she texted Triple H asking for her job back, and about having been told on several occasions across thirteen years that it was not going to happen for her.
The interim championship exists because Rhea Ripley has been out since June with a meniscus injury, with a unification match to follow once she is cleared. Green defends on SmackDown on Friday.
