Nikki Bella does not want to carry on in WWE on her own while her sister is out injured, and says part of her wants to sit and wait so the two can come back together.
Brie Bella broke her right scapula during the six-woman tag on night one of SummerSlam and has said she expects to be out between three and six months.
Speaking in a video posted to the sisters’ YouTube channel on Wednesday, filmed at Brie’s bedside, Nikki was asked about going forward alone.
“I don’t want to do it alone. A part of me feels like I need to stay back with you and just wait for us to come back in together. It’s already been a one and a one. I don’t want to do this again without you.”
Brie’s answer was to tell her not to, and then to ask her to hold her hair.
Nikki said nothing about her contract and gave no timeframe. She was talking to her sister rather than making an announcement, and WWE has not commented.
Both Bellas signed two-year deals earlier this year that they have described as their last before retirement, which makes the next few months a meaningful slice of what is left. Nikki had also only just come back herself, having broken an ankle in March, and SummerSlam was her first match in months. Brie returned full time at the Royal Rumble in January and won the Women’s Tag Team Championship with Paige at WrestleMania 42, the first tag titles of her career, before losing them in July.
The injury has left a storyline hanging as well as a schedule. The Bellas turned on Paige immediately after the match at SummerSlam, and nothing has followed it.
