Carlito has shared his post-WWE retirement timeline, telling Insight with Chris Van Vliet that his target is roughly five more years before he rides off into the sunset, and that his recent WWE run substantially helped his exit plan.
The reveal came when Carlito was asked how much longer he plans to wrestle. Carlito has been working an active independent circuit schedule since his WWE departure earlier this year, with the post-WWE bookings keeping him in the touring pattern that has defined his career.
“I’m getting there. I still got a little bit left in the tank I feel. It’s not that I don’t want to do it anymore, I’m just focusing more on the exit plan.”
Asked what the exit plan looks like, Carlito framed the financial side directly.
“It looks pretty good, man. The WWE run helped out a lot with that, with the retirement plan. So, yeah, couple more years, and then I can ride off into the sunset.”
Asked specifically what riding off into the sunset looks like for him, Carlito framed it as a clean exit. “Not even hearing about me…..maybe, find a house on the beach, or something, was bland.”
Asked specifically how many years he is targeting before retirement, Carlito gave a direct answer, which is around five years left.
“Five-ish should be the goal. Or my body might say, ‘Hey, bro,’ but right now it’s been pretty good.”
Carlito also addressed his current work style approach and how it preserves his body for the long-term goal. That comes down to entertaining the crowd.
