Charlotte Flair On Becky Lynch Feud: ‘I Don’t Think It’s Over. I Think This Is Just The Beginning’

Charlotte Flair has reflected on her rivalry with Becky Lynch, telling TMZ Sports Inside The Ring that the personal animosity between the two women’s wrestling pillars made both of them better and that the program is not finished yet.

The interview is the latest promotional push for the A&E Biography Rivals episode focused specifically on Flair vs Lynch, set to air on May 24. Flair walked through how the two-decade dynamic shaped both careers.

“Do I think it helps? I think, with Becky and I, we both wanted to be on top. It’s like with Sasha Banks and I, we both wanted to be on top. Any time you get two alphas in the room and they want to be the best, there’s gonna be tension, and I think that’s how it should be. If you’re not in the game to be the best then what are you doing.”

She framed the iron-sharpen-iron dynamic specifically. “The thing with Becky and I, as she got better I got better, as I got better she got better. You want that. You want competition. Competition breeds competition, it’s how you get better.”

The two have worked one-on-one programs across SmackDown and Raw, including the WrestleMania 35 main event in 2019, where Lynch won both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships in a triple threat against Flair and Ronda Rousey. Flair went deeper on what the rivalry means to each woman’s career.

“It’s incredible that Becky and I have this platform to talk about the incredible rivalry that we had due to the pivotal moment in the business for women and what we mean to each other’s careers. There wouldn’t be The Man without The Queen, and they’re wouldn’t be The Queen without The Man. I don’t think it’s over, I think this is just the beginning. If they’re a new fan, they’re just getting a taste of what Becky vs. Charlotte looked like, but to me, I want to see what’s next.”

The “I don’t think it’s over” framing reopens the door to a possible future Flair-Lynch program. Lynch currently holds the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship and was last in a singles program with Iyo Sky around April. Flair is currently working the six-woman tag picture on SmackDown alongside Rhea Ripley and Alexa Bliss against the Jade Cargill-B-Fab-Michin trio.

A&E Biography Rivals: Charlotte Flair vs Becky Lynch airs Sunday, May 24 on A&E. The episode is the latest installment in the A&E Biography Rivals series, which has previously covered Stone Cold vs The Rock, John Cena vs The Rock, Triple H vs Shawn Michaels, and other major WWE rivalries.
