Motor City Machine Guns are no longer with WWE. Chris Sabin confirmed on X that he and Alex Shelley were among those released in the post-WrestleMania 42 roster cuts on April 24. The duo joined WWE in the fall of 2024 and made an immediate impact, winning the WWE Tag Team Championships in just their second match with the company.
The Motor City Machine Guns spent the majority of their career in TNA, where they are multiple-time TNA World Tag Team Champions. Their pairing dates back to 2006. Prior to their WWE run, they had a lengthy return to TNA in recent years.
Their WWE tenure saw them capture the tag team titles in their second outing with the company. The circumstances of their release, like those of many of the 25 wrestlers let go on April 24, appear to have been connected to WWE’s efforts to make way for newer talent and the anticipated return of SmackDown to a two-hour format, which reduced the need for a deeper roster.
Their departure was part of a sweeping round of releases that also included the entire Wyatt Sicks faction, Kairi Sane, Alba Fyre, Zoey Stark, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, Apollo Crews, and Santos Escobar among the main roster cuts, representing one of the more significant single-day roster reductions WWE has carried out in recent years.
With their WWE non-compete clause set to run its course in the coming months, the Motor City Machine Guns will have no shortage of options.
