Ric Flair’s account of why he was not at WrestleMania 42 has taken a turn, with the Nature Boy publicly apologizing to Ludwig Kaiser, while a report from Fightful Select raises serious questions about whether the incident Flair described actually happened the way he told it.
Flair took to Twitter on Monday with a direct message to Kaiser that represented a complete reversal in tone from what he had said just days earlier on The Ariel Helwani Show.
“Mr. Ludwig Kaiser, I never implied that you couldn’t work or didn’t have talent. I actually understand that you are doing really well with The Undertaker’s promotion. I am sorry that I got upset. I am naturally very protective of my daughters as I am sure as you grow older, you will be too. Continued success. I apologize for anything I said about you personally. It was not about your professional skill which I have heard is very good,” Flair wrote.
That message stands in a difference to what Flair told Helwani just days ago, when he claimed he called Kaiser and threatened him over comments connected to the Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton storyline, and that Kaiser s told Triple H, resulting in Flair being kept away from WrestleMania.
“I didn’t get invited to WrestleMania this year. I threatened to beat up Tiffany Stratton’s boyfriend last year, so I wasn’t allowed to go. A 24-year-old kid being threatened by a 76-year-old man, and I can’t go to WrestleMania? Are you kidding me? I called him and said, ‘When I see you, I will beat the shit out of you.’ So he went like a little bitch and told Triple H, and I wasn’t allowed to go,” Flair said at the time.
Adding another layer to the situation, Fightful Select reported that WWE sources did not seem to remember the incident Flair described at all, casting doubt on the original story entirely. Fightful also noted that Flair is believed to still be under contract with AEW, which would complicate any WWE involvement regardless.
It should be noted that The Undertaker doesn’t own his own promotion, but rather is helping with creative for AAA
