Cody Rhodes had one word for Pat McAfee, and then several more after that. Speaking on ESPN’s Get Up, Rhodes participated in a word association segment featuring several WWE names. When McAfee’s name came up, Rhodes did not hold back.
“A rat. A full-blown, full-blooded rat who is surrounded by people that don’t tell him no enough, and now he’s fully involved in what we’re doing, and Pat McAfee is on the marquee next to Randy Orton. No one expected that. So at least we can expect the unexpected with ESPN’s own Pat McAfee. Also, I don’t have the title because he took it to the Thunderdome. So I’m titleless here. I apologize,” Rhodes said.
McAfee was revealed as Randy Orton’s ally on the April 3 episode of SmackDown. Rhodes previously adopted a Mariah Carey “I don’t know him” stance on McAfee while appearing on Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast, suggesting that people in McAfee’s orbit need to say no to him more often. Fightful Select has reported that there are no restrictions on WWE talent expressing their displeasure with the McAfee angle in media.
McAfee will be in Orton’s corner when Orton challenges Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship in the night one main event of WrestleMania 42 on April 18 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
