Cody Rhodes has been on a strong run as the Undisputed WWE Champion since winning the title from Roman Reigns in the main event of the second night of WWE WrestleMania XL. This match was a rematch from WrestleMania 39, which saw Rhodes fall short to Reigns with the title on the line.
Rhodes entered into a program with AJ Styles that included him retaining the title at Backlash France and then again at Clash at the Castle in an I Quit match. At the Money in the Bank, he teamed with Kevin Owens and Randy Orton to fall short to The Bloodline (Jacob Fatu, Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga)
At SummerSlam, Rhodes went over Sikoa to retain his title after Roman Reigns made his return to screw Sikoa out of the title. At Bash in Berlin, Rhodes retained the title in his latest championship defense against Kevin Owens.
Now, Rhodes will respond to Solo on Friday’s SmackDown, seemingly to set up a rematch. As previously reported, this bout isn’t planned for the Bad Blood PLE on October 5th.Â
Rhodes has reached a notable milestone, hitting 150 days as the champion.
