Dexter Lumis says the Wyatt Sicks should have been spread across every WWE show instead of being held to one, and that a scrapped WrestleMania match against the Judgment Day was the point where the group’s momentum went.
Talking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Lumis went back to the June 2024 Raw debut first. He said the reaction has not left him.
“Goosebumps right now,” he said. “That was crazy. I’m sitting here with you right now, and I’m just like, it’s not stopping. I’m there right now. It’s still happening.”
Lumis said something else was in the room that night.
“It was a little overwhelming. I’ve said this before to people in private, but I felt a presence. I felt like maybe Bray was there. I know he was there. The table was set for us,” he said. “I’ll give credit to all the writers, and Triple H. He had a vision for how that should look, and it was executed with precision like I’ve never seen.”
The problem, he said, arrived immediately afterwards.
“There was a lot of pressure, especially after that debut. It was like, whoa, what do we do now? And that’s a task, not just for us, but for the writing team, Triple H, and creative in general,” Lumis said. “Sometimes this business moves so fast, and there’s so many new things and trends. It’s how do you keep this a focal point?”
Asked whether the group lost momentum, Lumis said he wanted to be careful with his wording, then pointed to a WrestleMania match that never happened.
He said he learned about it the same way the public did, from the first season of the Netflix docuseries WWE: Unreal, where a whiteboard visible in the background of a writers’ room meeting listed the Wyatt Sicks against the Judgment Day among tentative WrestleMania plans.
“I remember Finn Balor coming to me backstage at some point and being like, hey bro, I heard we might be doing something at WrestleMania, and I was just like, oh my God, that would be a dream come true,” Lumis said. “To work with Finn and those guys in a WrestleMania capacity. Like this is gonna happen, man. And then we had a health issue. Somebody in our group.”
Lumis did not name who, and said health comes first. He said his complaint was with what did not happen around it.
“I think Joe Gacy mentioned we all wish that we would have been given the ball a little bit more during that downtime to carry it on, and it seems like there was a lot of emphasis on Bo,” Lumis said. “We looked at him as the leader. He’s Bray’s brother. We didn’t have any problem with him being the focal point, but we just felt like the momentum is being lost so much by us not continuing, and we’re all capable.”
He laid out what he thought should have happened instead.
“In our minds, the Wyatts should have been all over WWE programming. It shouldn’t have just been Raw or SmackDown. It should have been Gacy shows up on NXT and has a program with somebody. Nikki shows up in a women’s match, and I could valet for Nikki,” Lumis said.
Nikki Cross did not wrestle a match in the roughly two years she was part of the group.
“Every week we’re like, is this the week? Are you going to wrestle this week?” Lumis said.
He said the work the group was proudest of largely went unseen, on untelevised shows against the MFTs, the faction they were feuding with when the axe fell.
“We did a lot of house shows, and I really wish the fans that view it just as a TV show, the TV viewers, I wish that they could have seen the house shows that we performed on, especially with the MFTs,” Lumis said. “It was just chemistry, amazing, and it just felt good.”
Lumis is the third member of the group to give the same account. Gacy sat down with Van Vliet earlier in August and said plans for the group during WrestleMania week were changed, that they were beaten decisively by the MFTs on the SmackDown before Mania, and that they were then removed from a Fort Worth SmackDown they had already been booked and given travel for. Nikki Cross followed a few weeks later and called the release unexpected after ten years with the company.
The Wyatt Sicks debuted on the June 17, 2024 episode of Raw, with Bo Dallas as Uncle Howdy leading Cross, Lumis, Erick Rowan and Joe Gacy out as a tribute act built on Bray Wyatt’s Firefly Fun House characters. Lumis and Gacy won the WWE Tag Team Championship in July 2025. The group’s last televised appearance was the eight-man street fight against the MFTs on the April 17, 2026 SmackDown, which they lost. All five were released a week later on April 24, as part of a post-WrestleMania 42 wave that ran to 23 names across the main roster and developmental.
