Dominik Mysterio: ‘I Hated’ Being On WWE TV As A Kid

Dominik Mysterio has been around WWE television since he was a child, but he admits those early experiences weren’t always enjoyable for him.

Speaking on JaackMaate’s Happy Hour, the second-generation star revealed that being thrust into the spotlight as a kid was something he genuinely disliked, even though his love for the business itself never wavered. “I hated it. Not wrestling, I loved wrestling. I loved watching it,” Dominik said. “I just didn’t enjoy the attention on me.”

Much of that early exposure came through one of WWE’s most memorable storylines: the 2005 custody angle involving his father, Rey Mysterio, and the late Eddie Guerrero. Playing into the classic story, Dominik offered his own tongue-in-cheek recap of how it all went down. “For the people that aren’t aware, Rey Mysterio is not actually my real dad. It is actually Eddie Guerrero,” Dominik joked.

He continued to lean into the kayfabe tale, framing himself as the ultimate prize. “There was a custody match for me in 2005. Basically I was living with Rey Mysterio and his family and then Eddie decided that I should come home, so he made it a big deal and he told everybody that I was really his son,” Dominik said. “Then there was this whole custody battle for me because I’m just that big of a prize.”

As for the outcome, Dominik framed the result as the origin of the villain he is today. “Unfortunately Rey Mysterio won that night, and I had to become what I became today,” he said.
