Edge shares his intentions for current WWE run

Edge made his return to WWE last year after being retired due to a history of neck problems.

After working a program with Randy Orton that resulted in him missing several months due to torn triceps, he’s back and returned in a big way by winning this year’s Men’s Royal Rumble Match. Now, he’s headed to WrestleMania 37 where he will challenge for either the WWE Title or WWE Universal Title.

Edge did an interview with CBS Sports where he was asked what his future plans are for the ring.

“I didn’t come back to just do a greatest hits tour,” he said. “That’s not why I came back. I didn’t just want to do regurgitated greatest hits. I wanted to come back because I wanted to tell compelling stories. I wanted to get in with a lot of talent so that … if I could impart wisdom from 29 years of doing this, in terms of trying to tell a story, that’s really exciting for me.”

He noted that he loves this talent that WWE has right now and he’s excited to get in the ring with them. He didn’t know whether he was working towards a title match at WrestleMania, but he knew that he was going to put the work in, which is something that he considers his responsibility as well.

“I don’t just want to be another body. I want to be able to help, and to help the totality of the industry if I can. If that means that this year Edge main events WrestleMania? Ok. I will do my part to make that happen and make it as compelling as I possibly can. But I also want to get in there with loads of talent. My goal is to come back and tell great stories in the main event of WrestleMania or on Raw, whatever it is. I came back committed to this.”

He continued that after his family, this is his top priority and he’s here every week if he’s asked to be in a title program because that’s the way he operates. He doesn’t want to be the person to come in for a week and be gone for the next eight. Edge thinks if he’s going to be in the mix then he should be here every week.”

Edge also talked about winning the Royal Rumble, his return, and more. Check out the full interview here.
