Ryan Nemeth posted a tweet on X that did not name CM Punk but was quickly identified as a shot at him, coming days after fan-captured footage of Punk training went viral showing a noticeably larger physique during his time away from WWE television.
Nemeth wrote: “I love that straight edge guys are like NOTHING! IS! EVER! GOING! IN! MY! BODY! EVER! except PEDs which I will be putting in my body actually very often now because I do steroids, but of course that does not break my sacred vow. I am more disciplined than you :)”
Punk was not named. Commenters on X connected it to him almost immediately.
The Viral Physique Footage
Punk has been off WWE television since April 20, the Raw after WrestleMania 42, where he lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns the night prior. His absence has been reported as scheduled time off, with his return expected before SummerSlam.
Around May 24, a fan-captured video began spreading on social media showing Punk in a gym looking visibly more muscular than during his last televised appearance, with the most noticeable changes in his arms, shoulders, and upper body. The footage drew widespread comments questioning how he had added so much muscle in a relatively short period. One widely shared post from user @superzomgbbq read: “Punker is gonna end his career as a Heavyweight wtf.”
The timing of Nemeth’s tweet, posted as that conversation was still circulating, led commenters to read it as his response to the discussion.
Background
Nemeth and Punk have a documented history. Nemeth filed a lawsuit in February 2025 against AEW, Tony Khan, and CM Punk alleging assault, breach of contract, and blacklisting from the wrestling industry following a series of incidents during Punk’s 2023 AEW run. AEW sought arbitration and counter-sued. The lawsuit is ongoing and none of the allegations have been proven in court.
Nemeth is the brother of Nic Nemeth, the former WWE star who competed as Dolph Ziggler.
