The Former World Champion Teased For AAA May Have Been Revealed

The former world champion that Rey Mysterio recently teased for AAA may have a name, and it’s a familiar one to WWE fans.

During a backstage segment on Saturday’s live AAA on Fox episode, Mysterio teased that the promotion was close to bringing in a former world champion who had never previously appeared for AAA. According to social media posts from fans in attendance at Saturday’s AAA taping in Mérida, Yucatán, that name may be Damian Priest.

Per those posts, Priest was part of the portion of the event that took place after the live episode concluded, with photos appearing to show him cutting an in-ring promo. Full spoilers from the taping are not currently available.

Priest fits the bill of Mysterio’s tease. The Judgment Day member is a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, having cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to capture the title in 2024. With WWE and AAA operating under the same umbrella, a Priest appearance south of the border would be the latest in a growing list of crossover moments between the two promotions.

Elsewhere on Saturday’s AAA on Fox episode, the Perros del Mal faction reformed, now consisting of Karmen Petrovic, Bronco Nima, Angel Garza, Berto, and Daga. The group made an immediate statement, attacking El Grande Americano in the closing moments of the show. The attack came shortly after Americano declared that his focus was on Dominik Mysterio and the AAA Mega Championship.
