Former WWE Champion Says He Stopped Watching Wrestling After Roman Reigns And Seth Rollins No-Sold Each Other’s Finishers

Kevin Nash says he has not come back to watching wrestling since a Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins match in which the two kicked out of each other’s finishers after the referee went down.

Nash made the comments on the latest episode of Kliq This with co-host Sean Oliver. The subject came up after Oliver said Vince Russo’s run writing television for Juggalo Championship Wrestling had ended, and asked Nash whether more than one person can control a wrestling product.

“Man, no. It can never be done by committee. It has to be somebody that has final say, and it can’t switch week to week,” Nash said.

Nash said a promotion’s creative lead is going to book the way he books, and the audience either buys into it or leaves.

“Vince has been making spaghetti for so f***ing long that he’s going to f***ing make the sauce the way he makes the sauce,” Nash said. “You either like it that way or you don’t like it that way, and sometimes you might have to f***ing eat it for a couple of months or six or 10 or whatever, and then you realize I don’t particularly like f***ing Vince Russo spaghetti. Then you just don’t eat anymore.”

Nash then talked about the style of today’s matches.

“I think the problem was, is the business turned more and more high spot, and less and less psychology, and it’s like 12 minutes of high spots is that, that’s it for me. I’m done,” Nash said. “I think that the match that Roman and Seth had when the ref went down, and they f***ing basically no-sold each other’s f***ing finishes for five minutes. I don’t think I’ve come back. Like I haven’t come back to wrestling.”

Nash compared it to a comic book that breaks its own rules.

“You can’t drop a nuclear bomb on the Hulk, and then tell me two issues later that the Leader’s going to take control of his mind. Like you know what I mean? Like you can’t, you take me too far one way, and I’m gone,” he said.

He said he would rather spend the time learning something.

“There’s too many other things in life that I can do that I don’t know about,” Nash said. “I’m sure I could go grab a textbook on the French Revolution and read it, and learn 20 f***ing things that I don’t know about instead of watching f***ing two guys not sell f***ing each other’s finishes.”

Reigns and Rollins met at SummerSlam on August 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Later in the episode, Nash was asked about the best match he had with Shawn Michaels, and explained what he learned working with Michaels and Scott Hall. He said Hall could get him in trouble with one punch, and used small details to make the audience believe what they saw.

“That’s what I learned about him and Shawn. You know, less is always more if you f***ing do it at the right time. But when it’s time to go, you gotta go,” Nash said. “And if you’re f***ing a big dude and you’re a heel… you gotta get up and down. You gotta feed a comeback.”

Nash has made similar points on the show before. He recently said there is only one way to work a cage match, and that going to the top rope in one ruins it.

Nash also said he has been watching old matches posted on Instagram. Earlier in the episode, he looked back on beating Bob Backlund for the WWF Championship at Madison Square Garden in 1994, and said Vince McMahon “did so many things right that night.”
