Ricochet is coming to the defense of Steven Borden and the decision to attempt the spot he did at AEW All Out. As seen on Saturday night, Borden was hurt near the end of his tag match with Darby Allin against Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher.
It happened when Borden and Knight came together from opposite sides of the ring and collided in midair. Borden was obviously hurt right away, and the bout was called, with the win being given to Knight and Fletcher.
AEW President Tony Khan later said Borden was “awake, responsive at the hospital, and he had a CT scan and all the tests have come back good.” He added that they were hopeful Borden would fly home to his family the next day.
Former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas criticized the spot on X.
“Maybe learn how to work before trying crazy s*** in the ring. Hope Steven is ok, but the higher ups failed him by allowing him to try a spot like that!” he wrote.
This led Ricochet to respond, saying, “You’re such a loser b****.” He would then address fans, comparing the spot to his own midair collision with Logan Paul in 2023.
“No, we tried it once and that was basically it. But it doesn’t matter if we practiced it once or 100 times. People have been hurt in wrestling doing high risk and low risk moves. It unfortunately is an aspect we face every time we step into the ring,” Ricochet wrote. “No one is at fault here. It’s just an unfortunate situation. So let’s just hope that Steven continues to get better.”
We wish Borden a speedy recovery.
