Leilani Kai has asked fans to keep former tag team partner Judy Martin in their thoughts and prayers after the wrestling legend was admitted to the hospital.
Kai posted the update on X, writing: “Please keep Judy Martin in your thoughts and prayers. She was admitted into the hospital last night. We are waiting on doctors’ tests and I’ll update everyone.”
Martin, 70, is best known for her appearances in the WWE alongside Kai as the Glamour Girls, one of the most decorated women’s tag teams of the 1980s. The duo, managed by Jimmy Hart, held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships and were involved in a classic feud with the Jumping Bomb Angels, which resulted in a memorable two-out-of-three falls match at the first Royal Rumble event in 1988.
Martin first began training in 1978 under the Fabulous Moolah, Joyce Grable, and Kai herself before beginning her career with a tour of Japan and appearances across various American promotions. She and Kai were initially awarded the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships in 1985 before returning to the company, repackaged as the platinum-haired Glamour Girls. Martin also appeared in WCW and the AWA during her career, which spanned from 1978 to 1999.
WrestlingNews.co sends its best wishes to Judy Martin and her family at this time.
