Speaking on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, Gene Snitsky discussed his famous 2005 Royal Rumble elimination of Paul London, calling it the best in the event’s history and revealing just how stiff the deciding clothesline was.
“I dare say it’s the top elimination ever, in my opinion,” Snitsky said. “Not because I was involved in it, but because just the crowd reaction, the bump, all things taken into consideration, I don’t think anything else really matches it.”
He explained that the spot was planned with London beforehand, who suggested the brutal clothesline off the apron.
“He’s like, ‘Why don’t you just clothesline me off the apron?’ I’m like, ‘Okay… but I’m going to have to clothesline you hard, pretty much in the face to get the momentum.’… And he was like, ‘Fine.'”
Snitsky did not hold back on the execution.
“I f—ing crammed him, dude. I ain’t gonna lie, I hit him hard! If you slow it down and see where I hit him, I hit him square right where your nose meets your forehead, and I f—ing hit him. He took it like a champ.”
