Goldberg is slated to wrestle Bobby Lashley for the Universal Title at this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event.
He made his return on WWE Raw a few weeks ago to have a staredown with Lashley and tell him that he’s next. WWE has yet to confirm the match, but it’s clear the match will happen.
Goldberg talked about the match while making an appearance on the CarCast show (around the 3:20 mark). This is where he noted that he was informed of the match 8 weeks ago.
He talked about how it’s just two big monsters doing the old school telling the story in a wrestling ring. He brought Lashley using the spear for years and recently the jackhammer finisher.
“This time they gave me eight weeks so Lashley’s gonna be pissed off about that one because I’ll be doubly ready this time. I’m actually looking forward to it man. I’ve been…we’ve talked in the past and it’s been like drudgery and I’ve been b**ching and moaning all the time and I’m still b**ching and moaning. I got a smile on my face because I know I’m more prepared than I was last time.”
The hosts joked that in the past, WWE informed Goldberg that he was going to make an appearance or wrestle on short notice. However, this time is different as they gave him plenty of time in advance about the match.
“I would say it helps exponentially, no question about that. I’m actually looking forward to it. It’s like putting time in at the track and being able to test actually before you have to go out and race.”
WWE SummerSlam takes place on Saturday, August 21 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada at Allegiant Stadium.
