GUNTHER: ‘I Feel Like I’m Still A Little Bit Of An Outcast’ In The WWE System

GUNTHER has opened up about his unique position inside the WWE locker room ecosystem, telling Rompipallone that his path into the company has made it difficult for him to give other wrestlers advice on how to navigate the WWE system, and that he still sometimes feels like an outcast despite his position as one of the company’s top main event stars.

GUNTHER has been on the WWE main roster for several years and is one of the company’s most-decorated singles champions, holding the World Heavyweight Title and Intercontinental Title.

“No, I don’t know. The thing is, I didn’t have the typical WWE career, I would say, because I’ve been off the radar for most of my career, which helped me in WWE. Basically come in and I figured myself out already, and yeah, that’s why it’s sometimes hard to give people advice on how to play the game in the WWE system and stuff, because I had my very special journey when it came to that. I think that’s something you grow into as well over the time.”

He talked about the “outcast” element of his current WWE positioning.

“But sometimes I feel like, obviously I do feel like I belong, but sometimes I feel like I’m still a little bit of an outcast when it comes to that. But I think it’s a very interesting position I’m in, so I’m enjoying it how it is.”

GUNTHER  years on the European independent circuit before signing with WWE, with his work in PROGRESS Wrestling, wXw, Revolution Pro Wrestling, and other European indie promotions building his character and in-ring style before he ever reached WWE television.

GUNTHER’s current main roster work continues with his Undisputed WWE Championship challenge against Cody Rhodes at Clash in Italy on May 30 in Turin.
