Kyle Fletcher has reflected on his AEW Double or Nothing return and his medical recovery, revealing on his YouTube vlog that he ultimately did not need surgery for his torn meniscus despite being given a 90% chance of needing it.
Fletcher returned to AEW programming at Double or Nothing 2026 on Sunday from Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, NY. The return came after a two-month absence due to the meniscus injury that pulled him from AEW TV. The Double or Nothing return saw Fletcher attack Konosuke Takeshita after Takeshita’s AEW International Championship win over Kazuchika Okada, with Fletcher then standing tall holding the title before driving it into Takeshita.
“I don’t have to have surgery. Awesome news. I was given initially 90% chance of surgery. No surgery required. Just healing.”
Fletcher also grew his hair out while recovering from the injury.
He reflected on the emotional impact of his Double or Nothing return.
“What just an absolute overwhelming flush of emotions. I wasn’t out for a long time. I was only out for eight weeks or two months, whatever. I didn’t even feel like a pro wrestler anymore. I felt like a dude that just stayed at home on his couch and worked out. That’s about it. That’s about all I did for the last two months. So for that to go as well as it did, not really much more to say. I’m a little bit speechless. It feels pretty cool, man.”
He also talked about the post-return mental state.
“Now it’s back to it. It’s back to the job. We’re back on the job. All of a sudden, I’m back to being on the road, back to my old life. It’s very exciting. It feels like a chapter has closed today and now I get to look forward. Bright horizons, happy days ahead. I get to go back to living my dream, loving life, traveling the world, and dropping people on their f*cking heads, which I love to do.”
