JBL Calls Roman Reigns Vs. CM Punk The Best Match Of WrestleMania 42 Weekend: ‘Hell Of A WrestleMania Main Event’

JBL has declared Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk the best match of WrestleMania 42 weekend, calling it a reminder of why professional wrestling is worth loving.

Speaking on Something To Wrestle, JBL described watching the 33-minute main event from a sports bar, where he spent as much time watching the fans’ reactions as the match itself.

“Absolutely love it. You know, you watch wrestling your whole life, you’re in wrestling your whole adult life. And occasionally you see matches like this, and it just makes you realize why you love this whole art, this genre, this sport, this whatever this professional wrestling is. These guys were fantastic. I was watching it from a sports bar, and I was watching the people also, because I was in the back, so people didn’t know who I was. So I was just kind of watching from the back. And they had big screens everywhere. People were watching. And I was watching the people as much as anything, because I wanted to see their reaction. People just loved it. Absolutely loved it. This was a hell of a match,” JBL said.

He also broke down exactly why the match worked so well in the context of modern wrestling.

“It was so good to see just two guys who could flat out work, good story lines, good emotion between the two, but just two guys who could work, who don’t need the bells and whistles, who don’t need a million run ins, who don’t need a lot of fixing curtains around it. Just two guys who can go out there and work, and that’s what they did. I thought it was indeed a WrestleMania main event, which is saying a lot,” JBL said.
