JBL is putting his money on Chelsea Green at SummerSlam, and he thinks WWE’s own documentary series is part of why she has a chance.
Asked on the latest episode of Something to Wrestle who wins the five-way ladder match to crown an interim WWE Women’s Champion, JBL did not hesitate.
“I think Chelsea Green is unbelievably talented. All these ladies are very talented, but Chelsea Green, man, she can just do anything. What range she has. She’s so freaking talented.”
He pointed to the current season of WWE Unreal as having shifted things in her favour.
“And after that Unreal stuff came out, the fans have kind of gotten behind her. I think there’s some real groundswell here for Chelsea Green.”
“I hope Chelsea Green. I was betting, that’s who I bet on. I bet on Chelsea Green.”
Green addressed the Unreal segment herself this week, saying she watched it at the same time as the audience and took confidence from hearing Paul “Triple H” Levesque describe her as one of the company’s best at turning limited television time into something memorable.
“I was able to watch it and just get a little ounce of courage and confidence and like, okay, my boss believes in me. There’s something that I am doing right,” Green said on TMZ Inside The Ring.
She competes on Night Two alongside Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Tiffany Stratton and the winner of Friday’s qualifier between Giulia and Lash Legend. Matt Hardy also named Green as his sleeper pick for the match this week, while going with Stratton as his actual call.
