Je’Von Evans Says Paul Heyman Is His ‘Number One Guy’ For Promo Advice

Je’Von Evans says Paul Heyman is the first person he goes to with promo ideas, and that Heyman understands how he talks because he worked with New Jack, one of Evans’ trainers.

Evans was asked on No-Contest Wrestling whether anyone helps him with promos.

“Oh yeah, for sure. Like Paul Heyman for sure. That’s my number one guy, most definitely, and he understands that, like, I just talk so different, you know. He worked with, you know, my… New Jack, so like he understands how I like how I talk, and like, you know what I mean, like he just understands it to a different level, you know. So it’s great just being able to, you know, go to Pauly and be like, ‘Hey, what do you think about this?’ or ‘Should I say this?'”

New Jack worked for Heyman in ECW and is one of the people who trained Evans. WWE reached a deal with New Jack’s estate in 2025 and added him to WWE 2K25 that July.

Evans gave an example from a recent Raw segment with Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh. He went with a line about McDonagh’s head being big, but said his first idea was a “cranium” joke he held back on because he did not think most people would get it.

“Not a lot of people will understand cranium, but like us, we would be like, oh, like, cranium, duh, you know… Might use that at Money in the Bank.”

Evans had his first match at 13. He said he avoided promos on the independent scene because he did not think anyone would buy a kid threatening grown men.

“On the indies, I wasn’t able to cut promos. Well, I’m not gonna say I wasn’t able to. I’ll say I didn’t like to, because I was young, I was a kid, you know what I mean. And I’m going against grown adults, so I can’t be saying, you know, ‘Oh, I’m gonna beat you up and I’m gonna win.’ Nobody’s gonna believe that, bro. Like, I didn’t like my voice.

“So like, you know, being signed to WWE has made me understand and made me like lock in when it comes to promos… I’m glad that they’ve been giving me the opportunity to, you know, talk, because now I’m starting to feel comfortable with my voice, you feel me? So it’s probably about to get dangerous. I’m not even gonna lie to you, man. It’s about to get real dangerous.”

Heyman manages The Vision, and Evans has been fighting the group on Raw. He beat Bron Breakker and Austin Theory with Penta on Monday after taking brass knuckles meant for Theory and using them himself. Evans and Breakker are both in the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match on Saturday in New Orleans, along with Penta, Trick Williams, CM Punk and Kevin Owens. The full card and start time are in our Money in the Bank preview.

Evans, 22, said he plans to leave with the briefcase.

“Y’all watch the Young OG become the youngest Money in the Bank winner to ever do it in WWE history, and then I’m gonna be the youngest World Heavyweight Champion to ever do it, or WWE Champion, because it’s gonna happen. I got no choice but to make it happen.”
