Jey Uso Addresses The Backlash To His King Of The Ring Run

Jey Uso has delivered a blunt message regarding the WWE fanbase, declaring that he no longer cares about the fans amid a strong singles run.

Since Roman Reigns reclaimed the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42, his Bloodline has once again dominated WWE television. The Usos rejoined the Tribal Chief’s side, and Jacob Fatu was folded into the group after falling to Reigns at Clash in Italy. Jey’s decision to align with Reigns again, after years of mistreatment at the hands of his cousin, has divided fans, and his run through the King of the Ring tournament has drawn backlash online.

Speaking to Jackie Redmond ahead of WWE Night of Champions, Jey addressed the criticism head-on. “You wanna be honest? I really don’t care about the fans no more, because when I was doing my thing, they saw all the hate. I can’t miss it, it’s all in my face. Social media, whatever it is, when my name pops up, I see it out there,” he said.

Jey acknowledged the negative reaction has been impossible to ignore, but insisted it has only motivated him. “Most disliked video on WWE social media platforms, look it up, Uce. Like 5, 6, 10 videos out there. It’s all good, if anything that lit a fire under me,” he said. “All the noise, all the opinions, it is what it is, because that’s part of the job.”

Despite the bravado, Jey admitted his standing with the audience is complicated. “It’s 50/50, I’m confused. Pulling me left and right, I yeet, I talk crap, I’m me now,” he said. “My day ones know who they are, but there was a lot of people that did doubt me, still doubting me now.”

When asked what his future could look like should he win the King of the Ring and capture the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam, Jey embraced both ends of the spectrum.

“I will either be the most loved or the most hated wrestler on planet Earth,” he said. As far as he is concerned, the reaction matters far less than the attention. “At the end of the day, they’re still watching me. Whether it be good news or bad news, it’s still news.”

Jey faces Oba Femi in the King of the Ring final at Night of Champions on Saturday.
