Jim Ross praises Seth Rollins, comments on the Cruiserweight division and Kevin Owens

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has posted a new blog entry over at his website where he gives his thoughts on Monday’s episode of RAW. Ross explained that Seth Rollins’ character on WWE TV reminds of Shawn Michaels and that Rollins is becoming a top babyface on RAW.

“There are elements of Seth Rollins TV persona continues to remind me at time of the great Shawn Michaels. WWE seems to be setting Rollins up to be their top fan favorite on RAW. Will be interesting to see what new, wrinkles Seth adds to his repertoire in the near future.”

Ross also thinks that the Rollins vs. Kevin Owens WWE Universal Title match at this Sunday’s Clash of Champions pay-per-view event on the WWE Network should be a good way to close the show.

“The Rollins vs Kevin Owens match this Sunday at the Clash of Champions on the WWE Network should be a strong show closer. No reason that it can’t be and I hope that we get a great finish.”

As seen on RAW, the Cruiserweight division made its debut and featured a fatal 4-way match between Rich Swann, Cedric Alexander, Brian Kendrick and Gran Metalik to determine a number one contender for TJ Perkins’ Cruiserweight Title at the Clash of Champions PPV. Ross thought that the match felt predictable.

“Cruiserweight match was fun to watch but the four way felt somewhat predictable but was a good production. I hope that these newly arriving talents get all the creative love that they deserve and can be facilitated to mean all that they can. This grouping of athletic performers is a breath of fresh air on WWE’s three hour, flagship broadcast. The Cruiserweights must speak on TV. Today’s TV audience will be challenged to emotionally invest if they can’t hear the talents speak about their career, their matches, being champion, etc. In hindsight, I’d have suggested to expose the new Cruiserweight Champion on TV before determining his #1 contender. Not a huge matter either way but I did not leave RAW thinking that the Cruiserweights were as special as I had hoped. I’d love to see the Cruiserweights booked with the same credibility as the Women and perhaps they will in the future. Are my expectations regarding the Cruiserweights too lofty? If so, that’s on me.”

Ross also talked about Adam Cole and more. You can read the entire blog here. If you haven’t done so, you can listen to the latest episode of the Ross Report here:
