The E! Network has been airing previews for Total Bellas and some fans are worried because it looks like the John Cena-Nikki Bella wedding could be called off. Cena talked about it on the TODAY Show on Thursday and acknowledged that the relationship went through a rough patch. Although much of what you see on reality television is fake, he said that what happened on Total Bellas is real.
“I think in relationships, you have highs and lows, and that was an extreme low,” Cena said. He said that he is determined to make things work. Cena later continued, “You have two choices. You either jump ship and start a new relationship or move forward and try to work through it.” He said that they are genuinely trying to work things out and “We haven’t yet jumped ship.”
The rumors about their relationship issues have swirled since Nikki announced in October that they changed their wedding date. She told reporters that the change was made because of issues with their “schedules.” They were engaged last April after five years of dating. Cena had previously told PEOPLE Magazine that the wedding planning had been going “slow” because they were juggling so many commitments with their careers.
Here is a clip of Cena talking about his relationship issues on The TODAY Show.
For what it’s worth, a recent Instagram post by Nikki seems to indicate that things are ok between them:
