Ricochet put up his NXT North American Championship against Johnny Gargano. Going into this match, Gargano has been acting heelish and has been teasing reuniting with Tommaso Ciampa.
This was a fast-paced and hard-hitting match filled with tons of crazy moves including a piledriver attempt that turned into Ricochet flipping off the top rope and landing on his feet. You have to see this match because so many moves are hard to describe.
Late in the match, Ricochet hit a springboard 450 off the top but Gargano was able to kick out of the pin attempt. Ricochet then hit the shooting star press but Gargano got the knees up and almost pinned Ricochet. Gargano nailed the superkick but it knocked Ricochet out of the ring so Gargano followed up with a dive through the ropes but Ricochet caught him and somehow that turned into a reverse spikerana on Ricochet. Back in the ring, the fans gave them a standing ovation after a DDT that almost ended in a pinfall. Gargano decided to rip the padding at ringside and then he thought about hitting a DDT on the floor but he didn’t follow through. That gave Ricochet enough time to recover and take over on offense.
Moments later, Ricochet locked in the Gargano Escape submission but Gargano was able to get to the ropes. Gargano got back on offense and he picked up Ricochet and suplexed him on the exposed floor. Gargano won after hitting the spring board DDT.
