Katana Chance (Kacy Catanzaro) Reflects On “American Ninja Warrior” Path To WWE

Kacy Catanzaro, known in WWE as Katana Chance, looked back on her unconventional journey to WWE, stemming from her “American Ninja Warrior” fame, and some of her standout moments, including a memorable Royal Rumble save. She was released from WWE in May 2025.

“After my American Ninja Warrior run… Sports Illustrated’s 50 fittest women athletes… I was on that list… and WWE, I guess, had seen it and called me and asked me to be on Tough Enough,” Catanzaro shared on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, though she ultimately signed directly to NXT later. Her 2019 Royal Rumble appearance was a significant early highlight: “That was my first really huge thing… I was in such awe of the arena and how many people were there… I was like, oh my god, this is what people feel like. This is why people love this.”

Regarding her famous handstand save in that Rumble, she said, “I am so grateful for that moment… people still will be like, Oh, yeah, your Rumble save was so cool. So I’m really grateful to at least have some really cool staple moments that people can kind of remember.” She also spoke about her successful tag team with Kayden Carter: “On paper and in real life, we are complete opposites… But when it comes to in the ring, immediately, we randomly just got put together… It kind of just flowed naturally.”
